To showcase his haute couture collection during HDIL India Couture Week in 2008, Ashish Soni needed a 14′ high installation of a scissor form and models were supposed to walk through it.
It was very challenging project for us. A normal metal scissor was taken and its dimensions were multiplied 14 times. A full scale drawing was made on the floor, and thereafter MDF was cut in the Scissor’s shape in multiple layers.
All the layers were then pasted to create a 10″ thick Scissor. Also, a sturdy stand was made to hold the scissor on the ramp. Proper screwing was done using Nut & bolt so that the scissor doesn’t fall apart even on pushing during the show.
Finishing was done by painting multiple coats of paint on the scissor so that the MDF was not visible.
